I’ve been doing a little soul-searching lately. Ok… well… a lot, actually.
For most of my career, people have known me as the “marketing guy.” And that’s fair – I love great design, compelling content, and creative problem solving.
But when I look back over the last 30+ years, the work I’ve enjoyed most wasn’t designing a brochure or building a website.
It was sitting around a conference table helping organizations figure out who they are, what they stand for, and how to communicate that in a way that people actually understand and believe.
The graphics and content were just the tools.
The strategy was always the job.
So I’ve updated the messaging behind Signal & Story to reflect that reality. Less emphasis on marketing. More emphasis on strategic communications, storytelling, stakeholder engagement, and helping organizations communicate with purpose.
It’s funny how long it can take to realize what you’ve actually been doing all along.
Sometimes clarity comes from stepping back and seeing the bigger picture.
